Mike SuperCongratulations to mentalist Mike Super for being named the new “Phenomenon.”

America voted each week for the mentalist they enjoyed the most and this week, we found out that the most popular mentalist in the competition was Mike Super.

The mentalists were chosen in this final order:

  1. Mike Super
  2. Angela Funovits
  3. Eran Raven
  4. Guy Bavli

Phenomenon: The Finals

This week’s episode of Phenomenon was live and only one mentalist was eliminated.

Angela Funovits, Mike Super & Guy Bavli got enough audience votes to make it through to perform for us this week. We had to wait to find out the fate of Eran Raven & Gerry McCambridge later in the show.

Angela Funovits started with the first performance by trying to determine the assistant’s birthstone from a group of all 12. Then she figured out the name of a person the assistant was thinking of by having the name imprint on a photo she didn’t even touch. She was good, but not great this week.

Phenomenon: A Snake Bite, Drinking Acid & A Burned Leg

This week’s episode of Phenomenon was live and three mentalists were eliminated.

When the show began, we were told that Jan Bardi, Jim Callahan and Wayne Hoffman did not get enough audience votes to remain in the competition and were sent home.

Wayne Hoffman was extremely graceful in his defeat and gave this great quote:

A TV show doesn’t make a Phenomenon, a Phenomenon makes himself.

Very cool!

The first performer was Mike Super. He demonstrated “Voodoo” using a so-called voodoo doll to affect the assistant. He was very entertaining and has a fun stage presence. But the illusion wasn’t all that mystifying. It was very entertaining, though.

Phenomenon: Episode 2 Recap

Tonight’s episode of Phenomenon was live. Very fitting for a Halloween evening.

The show began with each of the four performers from last week’s show giving us a very fast illusion. Then the remaining performers did a very fast illusion as well. They were all very fun to watch, but nothing that would blow our minds, just enough to catch our interests. Ross Mathews was so much fun as one of the assistants last week, they brought him back this week along with Shandi Finnessey & Raven-Symone.

Interestingly, it seems that one of the original mentalists, Jason Scott has been replaced for some reason by a mentalist named Mike Super. (I’ll be updating the cast page tomorrow, so please bear with me. There was no press release about this…)

Then, they let us know who had been eliminated from last week’s show. Gerry McCambridge & Eran Raven were safe and will return next week. But Jim Karol & Ehud Segev were eliminated. I was surprised. I thought Jim Karol was better than Gerry McCambridge, but what do I know about mentalism? ;-)

To me, the most impressive illusion of the show was Eran Raven performing this nail gun Russian roulette. Not only is he totally hot, but he’s a great illusionist too! Check it out:
