Will Bigham

Congratulations, to Will Bigham 31 year-old filmmaker from Canyon, TX for winning On the Lot. He’s now got a $1million dollar movie deal with DreamWorks and his new boss is none other than Steven Spielberg.

His films have all had a sweet character and didn’t even need dialog to bring the audience along on the journey. He’s a very talented director and I wish him all the best!

I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of Director Will Bigham.

‘On the Lot’ - Marty Went Home

June 19, 2007 by Lynn

On The Lot

The guest judge this week is Wes Craven. Tonight, we will get to see who was eliminated by the vote from last week’s episode. We’ll also get to see five new contestants’ videos.

Marty Martin

Marty was sent home at the beginning of the show. He’s the one that Carrie Fisher told liked himself enough that he didn’t need anyone else.

The first director was Will with his film, Glass Eye. Very clever!! I loved it! Two thumbs up! :-)

Jason was next with Blood Born. I thought it was a bit disturbing. I didn’t like the constant flashbacks. It was ok, but I want’ a big fan. One thumb up.

Next up was Zack with his film Sunshine Girl. I loved it!! He’s very talented! Two thumbs up!

Mateen was the next director with his film Lost. I liked it a lot too! He’s very talented. It left me wanting more. Two thumbs up.

Finally, Jessica with The Orchard. (Gutsy, in front of Wes Craven…) The concept was good, but it didn’t grab me. One thumb down.

We’ll have to wait until the next episode to see who goes home and who will stay.

I’m definitely partial to Zack. I think he has a chance to go all the way. I also think Mateen has a great shot at it too.

Whose film did you enjoy the most? Who do think will be sent home? Leave a comment to let us know.

‘On the Lot’ - Trever Sent Home

June 12, 2007 by Lynn

On The Lot

The guest judge this week is David Frankel. Tonight, we will get to see who was eliminated by the vote from last week’s episode. We’ll also get to see five new contestants’ videos.

Trever James

Adam, Shalini, Sam and Hilary were safe. Trever was sent home.

First to screen his movie this week was Andrew. His film was Polished. It was great! Two thumbs up!

Next was David with his movie Love at First Shot. I wasn’t that impressed with it. I give it a thumb down.

The third director was Shira-Lee. Her film was Beeline. Her son was great in it and I laughed out laud at the end. Two thumbs up!

Up next was Marty with the film Dance With The Devil. I think he was trying to make The Bourne Identity without Matt Damon. It wasn’t my kind of movie, but it seemed to be well made and had good visual style. One thumb up.

Kenny finished the evening with his film Edge On The End. It wasn’t my cup of tea. I give it a thumb down.

We’ll have to wait until the next episode to see who goes home and who will stay.

Whose film did you enjoy the most? Who do think will be sent home? Leave a comment to let us know.

‘On the Lot’ - Five Filmmakers Screened Their Films

June 5, 2007 by Lynn

header.jpg

This week’s guest judge is Michael Bay. We also found out that only five of the remaining fifteen directors were to screen their three minute videos for us tonight.

The first finalist to screen his video was Sam. His film was Broken Pipe Dreams. It was fantastic!! I loved it!! Two thumbs up!

The next to show his film was Trevor. His movie was Teri. It was really cute. I liked it a lot. One thumb up.

Next up, Hilary. Her movie was The First Time I Met the Finkelsteins. It was reminiscent of meeting my former in-laws! I loved it! Two thumbs up! (The judges didn’t give it good reviews, but I disagree on this one.) ;-)

The next director was Adam. His film was Dough: The Musical. Very fun! I liked it! One thumb up!

And finally, it was Shalini. Her film was Laughing Out Loud: A Comic Journey. I was totally drawn in to the character. I love it too! Two Thumbs up for this one too!!

How do I decide!? There are three I love. Actually, they were all very good. Shalini’s film had the most wonderful video feel to it. I think I’m for that one this week. But it’s close!!

So which was your favorite? Was there one you hated? Leave a comment to tell us!!

‘On the Lot’ Eliminated Three Directors

May 29, 2007 by Lynn

header.jpg

Tonight we got to see the directors move into the bungalow and talk about the first screening.

Jason talked about his movie and the fact that he had not intended to offend anyone with it. The judges thought the character was mentally challenged, he said it was just a nerd.

Kenny said that the judges had not understood his movie, but that America would understand it.

When the group of 18 was asked who thought they were going home, Hilary, Phil and Jason raised their hands. After the audience votes were revealed, Carolina (Deliver Me), Claudia (Blind Date) and Phil (Please Hold) were the three to be eliminated.

The top three films were from Zach (Danger Zone), Will (Lucky Penny) and Jason (Getta Rhoom). (Jason?? WTF?!?)

I hate to see the female directors go. Garry Marshall said that they need more women directors and I agree. But, what can we do?

I have to say that I was surprised that Kenny and Jason stayed, but I’m happy with all of the others. Now I can’t wait to see what the directors come up with for next week. And be sure to check back here as I blog it live.

Do you agree with the eliminations? Were there others you thought should go? Leave a comment to tell us how you feel.

We Finally Got to Meet the 18 Finalists ‘On the Lot’

May 28, 2007 by Lynn

header.jpg

This was the first episode of the series that aired in its actual time slot. We found out that Carrie Fisher and Garry Marshall will both be judges for the entire season, and that the third judge spot will change. Our hostess for the season will be Adrianna Costa.

In the first two audition shows, the third judge was Brett Ratner. Tonight’s episode had DJ Caruso as the third judge.

We got to meet each of the filmmakers and see a one-minute humorous short created by each.

No it’s up to us, the viewers to vote for our favorites. The easiest way to do that is to go to the web site and watch each of the videos and place your votes.

Tomorrow night’s episode will use our votes to eliminate the least popular three directors. So if you have a favorite, you’d better go vote so they can stay in the competition.

  • Adam (Miami, FL): Dancing Man - I loved it!! Two thumbs up!
  • Carolina (Santa Monica, CA): Deliver Me - I loved it!! Two thumbs up!
  • Andrew (Minneapolis, MN): Spaced Out - I liked it. One thumb up.
  • Kenny (Owego, NY): Wack Alley Cab - I didn’t laugh even once. I give it a thumb down.
  • Hilary (Francestown, NH): Bus #1 - I really didn’t enjoy it that much. I give it a thumb down.
  • Marty (Renton, WA): The Big Bad Heist - I liked it. One thumb up.
  • Will (Canyon, TX): Lucky Penny - I thought it was great! Two thumbs up!
  • Jessica (Brooklyn, NY): …To Screw in a Light Bulb - I liked it. One thumb up.
  • Mateen (Oakland, CA): Soft - I thought it was really good. Two thumbs up.
  • Claudia (Sagheria, Italy): Blind Date - I liked it. One thumb up.
  • Jason (Winchester, KY): Ghetta Rhoom - I wasn’t that impressed. One thumb down.
  • David (Aurora, CO): File Size - I liked it. One thumb up.
  • Zach (Vancouver, BC): Danger Zone - Fabulous!! My absolute favorite! All in one shot!! Can I give it three thumbs up when I only have two thumbs?
  • Trever (Great Falls, MT): A Golf Story - I liked it. One thumb up.
  • Shalini (Brooklyn, NY): Love in the Year 2007 - I loved it! Two thumbs up!
  • Phil (Manchester, UK): Please Hold - I liked it! One thumb up.
  • Shira-Lee (Johannesburg, South Africa): Check Out - Very funny! Two thumbs up!
  • Sam (Mount Vernon, NY): Replication Theory - I like it. One thumb up.

Based on these one-minute shorts, I expect Kenny, Hilary and Jason to go home tomorrow night. I guess we’ll see if the rest of America agrees.

These were my opinions, but what are yours? Do you agree, or do you disagree? Leave a comment to let us all know!

This Is One of the Top 50 Videos Entered For ‘On the Lot’

May 27, 2007 by Lynn

During the past several days, I’ve been posting items about On the Lot semi-finalist, Jeremy Corray. He’s the person from St. Louis who was one of the 50 semi-finalists featured on the season premiere of the show.

I wondered what well-made video got him chosen to go to California for the filming of the semi-finals for the show, and he sent me the link. This is the description he has for the video:

Every thirty seconds a man is hit by a drunk driver. THIS is that man!

On the Lot - My Tribute to “Belt Boy”

May 26, 2007 by Lynn

Yesterday, I posted about my attendance at the premiere party for On the Lot, held locally by one of the show’s semi-finalists, Jeremy Corray.

I told you then that he has a great sense of humor and a fun personality. Well, here’s what I mean by that. He has posted online his pitch to the judges, as it aired on the show on Tuesday. Then, he posted a re-mix of it that has a totally different slant. (hysterically funny…)

Here’s the actual pitch:

Now, here’s Jeremy’s creative re-mix (he calls it “Belt Boy’s Revenge”):
