Two Cool Casting Calls This Week!
December 18, 2008 by Lynn

Beauty & the Geek is Casting
The show that teaches geeks social skills and beauties how to use more than their looks in life, Beauty & the Geek is now casting for the next season. The casting directors are looking for intelligent and quirky guys who are 21+ with a high IQ or a savvy intellect. They want men who are more likely to be featured on Jeopardy rather than The Bachelor. If that’s you, be sure to apply!
Are you sick and tired of those reality shows featuring the attractive man with not much substance? This show is turning the tables and showing America that smart and quirky guys have more to offer. You can find out all about how to apply here.
The Underdawgz: Dog Adopters for Animal Planet is Casting
There’s a new television show for Animal Planet that’s looking for males, females, couples and families who might be interested in adopting a pit bull as part of its new unscripted TV show, currently titled “The Underdawgz.”
The show centers around a rescue facility devoted to rescuing and rehabilitating abandoned and mistreated Pit Bulls and the day-to-day activities that take place in animal rescue. The show will follow potential adopters through the adoption process of one of these dogs as a way of educating viewers of everything that goes into a person’s commitment to this breed. Find out how to apply here.
Billy Garcia’s Movie Set Experience
December 16, 2008 by Lynn
Bily Garcia, best known from his time on Survivor: Cook Islands, is a friend of mine and sent me this exclusive account of his time filming the reality horror film, Reality Horror Night. He’s a terrific guy and his article is a fun read. You can find out more about Billy on his MySpace site & about Reality Horror Night on the official site. I just had the pleasure of acting in the movie Reality Horror Night. By the middle of the shoot I also had the pleasure of becoming the fight choreographer/stunt coordinator. By end of the shoot, the movie had been slated to become a trilogy and I had been commissioned to cast parts 2 and 3. Wow! I am going places! Where do I begin?

On the first day of shooting, the whole cast got together for the first time, much like a real reality show. Jason Prager from Beauty and the Geek is a friend of mine from the New York Reality TV School where we are both mentors. So we met up at New York’s Penn Station to grab a train ride to the shoot location at Glen Cove Mansion in Long Island.
We just happened to run into Robert Smith from I Wanna Work For Diddy while we waited for our train. So during the long train ride into Long Island, the three of us got to break the ice before meeting the others.

EXCLUSIVE: David Olsen, a Very Dateable Guy!
November 17, 2008 by Lynn
Another of the cool people that I met at the Survivor Dodgeball Charity weekend was Beauty & the Geek 4 winner David Olsen. Yeah, I know about all the geek stereotypes…I grew up in a family of engineers and my son is one too… But David is not the typical geek. I got a chance to get to know him a bit when my friend Betsy & I gave him a ride from Long Island to Boston. We had hours (and a couple of traffic tie-ups) in which to discuss everything from reality TV to astrology to the nature of the universe. He’s a very personable guy. Yes, he’s extremely bright, but that’s a good thing, right?

First of all, he says that being on the show did give him more confidence with women and that he has dated more since then. And I also asked him what he feels about the VH1 reality show The Pickup Artist. We both agreed that Mystery has a lot of good knowledge of body language and social skills, but David said that he doesn’t like the goal the guys have on that show (to get laid.) See, I told you he was a good guy!
And it occurred to me. I have another new mission. I would like to see if I can help David find a nice girl (or girls) to date. He’s not in my geographic area or age group, so I’m not a candidate, but I asked him what kinds of things would make a woman someone he’d like to date. He thinks that living in or near Boston is important since long-distance relationships seldom work out. And he likes a good sense of humor and intelligence. And being a good conversationalist is not bad either. Do you know that he didn’t even mention looks? I get the feeling that the more esoteric things about a person are more important to him.
Ok, single girls in Boston. He’s a nice guy, won some big bucks on a reality show, isn’t in a relationship and seems like an all-around good catch! So if you are interested in connecting with David, drop me an email and I’ll pass it along.
EXCLUSIVE: The Survivors From Gabon at the Dodgeball Event
November 17, 2008 by Lynn
There were several members of Survivor: Gabon at the Survivor Dodgeball Charity event last weekend, but I only snapped photos of them and did not ask them any questions at all. They are still under a strict contract with CBS and I did not want to jeoparize that in any way. Check out some photos of them:

EXCLUSIVE: David Olsen Winner of Beauty & the Geek 4 Explains LARPing
I have a bit of reality TV trivia for you. It’s a very little known fact that Survivor: Fiji star Anthony Robinson and Beauty & the Geek 4 winner David Olsen have been friends for about 10 years and share an unusual hobby: LARPing. While David was very open about his love of LARPing on his series, I don’t remember ever seeing Anthony discuss the subject before this weekend’s Survivor Charity Dodgeball event.
And one more bit of trivia: the foam weapons used by David to demonstrate LARPing for the B&tG series actually belonged to Anthony. Now how’s that for some reality TV trivia?
The two of them were very animated and enthusiastic when they were hanging out at the after party Saturday night. They talked a lot about LARPing and I asked them to pose for a photo together. This is what they came up with:

They then explained to me that in two different LARPing games, the gestures they were making made them invisible. (Yes, they still did show up on the camera…LOL) Anthony is invisible in the Vampires game and David is invisible in the Quest game. Who knew?
Still have no idea what LARPing is? It seems that even reality shows are a form of LARPing. Here’s David to explain:
