Where Are They Now? Katie Gallagher – Survivor: Palau [Guest Post]

Guest Correspondent: Betsy Hijazi My friend, Betsy Hijazi has been with me at various reality TV events and was kind enough to be the Reality Exploits Correspondent for me at the Survivor: Micronesia red caprpet event last month. She’s a very talented blogger in her own right and will be with me again at the Survivor Dogeball charity event in November. She lives in Boston and is elated that the Celtics were victorious.

If Katie Gallagher’s name doesn’t instantly ring a bell for you, you may recall she was Survivor: Palau’s runner up to Tom Westman, winning $100,000 for her well-played game. We reached out to Katie to find out what has been going on in her life and were saddened to hear that she was recently “diagnosed with Viral Cardiomyopathy, which is, in short, Congestive Heart Failure (CFH) without a known cause.” Katie said this is all very new to her and she is trying to learn as much as she can about the disease.

Given Katie’s recent diagnosis, it is not surprising that she plans to reach out to a charity with ties to young women and heart disease. Our best wishes are extended to Katie as she learns more about and how to live with this disease. Katie is a true Survivor and we’re sure she’ll fight like the champion she is!
