Where Are They Now? Bobby “BobDawgsta” Mason – Survivor Panama [Guest Post]

My friend, Betsy Hijazi has been with me at various reality TV events and was kind enough to be the Reality Exploits Correspondent for me at the Survivor: Micronesia red carpet event last month. She’s a very talented blogger in her own right and will be with me again at the Survivor Dogeball charity event in November. She lives in Boston and is elated that the Celtics were victorious.

Bobby Mason of Survivor: Panama has been keeping himself busy since his TV days on Survivor. Bobby is multi-talented and keeps his foot in many doors, including burning the midnight oil at his ‘real job’ as an attorney, singing, participating in charity events and enjoying the company of fellow Survivor cast members. Straight from the BobDawgsta himself, here’s “where he is now!”

The last few seconds of my 15 minutes ticked away sometime last year so I had to give up my pursuit of stardom and start acting like an adult again (note: I said ‘acting’–still young at heart!). I went back to work as an attorney in September of last year and have been in-house at a toy company called MGA Entertainment ever since. If you’ve heard of the BRATZ! dolls, then you know who I work for. It’s been a good gig. I never thought I’d work for a toy company after all my time in a big law-firm, but it’s a much less stressful existence than the life. It’s tough to get stressed out when you’re surrounded by dolls and pink tricycles all day! The company is actually in a big lawsuit against Mattel right now and that’s what I’ve been working on the last 7 months or so (you can google MGA Bratz mattel lawsuit riverside lawsuit to get an idea of what the case is about).

Other than that, I haven’t been doing too much. I have a rap single (”Nuthin’ But the DSC”– here’s a couple of links to youtube videos — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7i0Uk6mo4s and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCDMy_Pav2c) coming out on a reality TV stars compilation album sometime in August supposedly, but it might get delayed. It was supposed to come out in May so there’s no telling when it will come out, but it could do very well. The album is called “I SAW YOU ON TV, vol. 1″ (www.isawyouontv.com) and features people from Survivor, Big Brother, Apprentice, American Idol and some other shows. Given the fan bases of these shows, it could turn out to be pretty big–maybe big enough that I’d NEVER have to be an adult ;-) .

I traveled to India last year and that was an eye-opening experience. The poverty on the world stage is crushing and makes you count your blessings and wish you could do something to help. I was in New York last year for a Survivor Dodgeball Tournament. That was also an eye opening experience as I realized that I’m awesome at Dodgeball (I figured I was “great” or “incredible” but didn’t know I was “awesome” til I — and the Exile Island Bomb Squad (feat/ Terry Dietz, Austin Carty, Shane Powers, Bruce Kanegai and Ruth Marie) took home the title. I just got home from Virginia where I attended Jonny Fairplay’s wedding to Michelle Deighton of America’s Top Model. It was a great ceremony and a fun weekend. I drank moonshine with Big Tom of Africa/All-Stars. Now THAT was an eye-opening experience, literally!

Other than that, as you can see by my pics, I’ve been trying to keep myself in shape by wrestling alligators and drinking lots of whiskey and I was successful in my bid to get the Mayor to correct the spelling on the Hollywood sign. It was only for one day though. They say it was confusing the kids…
