Phenomenon: Episode 1 Recap

To me, the most impressive illusion of the show was Eran Raven performing this nail gun Russian roulette. Not only is he totally hot, but he’s a great illusionist too! Check it out:

Jim Karol, “The Psychic Madman” caught his fingers in a small bear trap and guessed the celebrity written on the board by Rachel Hunter. Ross Mathews was very funny as the other assistant too. The performance was fun and dramatic, but was it good enough to get him through to the next round?

We also got to to see Gerry McCambridge do a trick where he has tons of people guess numbers and they all went together to make up the number chosen at random in the phone book. This one didn’t have me all that impressed.

Here’s Ehud Segev performing his first illusion. I thought it was fun, but not a total “Wow!” by any means:

On Halloween evening, Phenomenon will be live once again and we’ll get to see the other six mentalists perform. We’ll also find out which two of the first four will be eliminated.

Personally, I think Eran Raven’s act was far and away the most impressive and I look for him to go through to the next round. Of the other three, I liked Jim Karol the best, because he was the most entertaining, but any of the other three could go home.
