Kat Von D Left Miami Ink, But Will Have Her Own Series, LA Ink
The TLC show, Miami Ink was home to Kat Von D last season and in the season finale, she and Ami had words, then she left the show.
But Kat fans, all is not lost! She’s going to be in a new show called LA Ink that will premiere on August 7th on TLC.
Here’s a description of the new show:
Kat Von D has come home to LA to open up her own tattoo shop. She already has a wait-list of clients a mile long including celebrities, rising starlets, punk rockers and tattoo collectors. The news has spread, and before the shop has even opened, it’s clear it will be one of the most popular in LA. But with popularity come headaches, drama, and lots of business streaming through the door.
LA offers a wide variety of clients ranging from Hollywood power brokers to new-age herbalists to hard-core bikers. Every person has a different reason for getting a tattoo and these stories will provide the core of each LA Ink episode. Three of the LA Ink’s artists are women: Kat Von D, Kim Saigh and Hannah Aitchison, setting it apart from most tattoo shops in the country. Renowned underground tattooer Corey Miller whom Kat has idolized and respected for years is the lone male artist. Kat’s friend Pixie will be the shop’s manager.
LA is known for its tattoo culture, and Kat Von D defines it. She lives the fast-paced and rebel lifestyle, playing by her own rules. Hers is a life of freedom: she sets up her own schedule, picks her clients, sleeps late and parties all night. For her shop to be a success, she’ll need to learn to balance that with running her own business. Like others in her world, bartenders, writers, artists, musicians, stylists, and models, Kat’s chosen a career in which she can say whatever she wants to say, look the way she wants to look, and do as she pleases. LA Ink provides a rare glimpse into her world.

Kat, I am a 64 year old professional business woman. I would never of even thought of getting a tattoo until I started watching Miami ink. I became a loyal watcher of the show. I am so happy to see you are setting up business and opening a new shop. I live in San Diego. I want to get a hummingbird in full color put on my ankle. My mother died of cancer and she passed her love of hummingbirds on to me. What a perfect way to honour and remember my mother. I realize you probably would not pick me as a client but i would like to come to your shop to have one of the girls tattoo my bird for me. Please advise. joann

hey Kat im one of ur biggest fans and ever since i first seen the show miami ink i have always wanted to meet u and get my first tattoo done by u bcuz u r so damn good. but too bad that u left the show but the again it is really cool that u r starting ur own show. but i want u to do my first tattoo and i want it to be like a capricorn and leo sign together. i would be really happy if u could do that for me some time in my life not yet though i have to wait a few years but u get it well gotts to go so l8r.

Congrats on your new shop. I am a big fan of yours and have been for a long time. I would love for you to give me and my daughter a tattoo black&white of my mom. She had past away 16 years ago and I still fill like it was yesturday. I miss her very much. She was and still will be my very best friend. She stood by me when I got pregnant and was very close to my daughter. I love your artwork and would be so honored if you could tattoo this portrait of my mom for us together. Do you all realize that this is a “news” site and not the Kat Von D personal site? I doubt she even knows this article is up here.
Anyways Miami Ink has run it’s course with people coming in with sad stories of why they are getting tattoos and that is all this show is going to be about. How many times can you watch Kat do a portrait of some one’s dead child or family member? From some of your posts I think you could watch it on a non-stop loop. What happened to the days when someone would get a tattoo just because they wanted a cool piece of art on their body why must everyone have a story of over coming or loss to get the tattoo?

I was so excited to hear that Kat was getting her own show. Her level of talent deserves it!! I just saw the show and beyond her talent which I could go on about for HOURS …she also looks great!! You can tell that she’s lost some weight …I don’t even know if it was intentional or not. I think that Miami Ink was a good experience for her but emotionally and professionally it wasn’t where she would have blossomed! I think that Ami and Kat working together was kindda a toxic mix particularly for Kat and I’m not sure if her weight was a reflection of that. Regardless, looking forward to watching LA Ink …she’s inspired me to keep moving forward. I just left LA after being a pretty toxic relationship (I have gained some weight) and seeing Kat on TV has given me hope that my life will professionally and emotionally/ weight-wise come together for me in San Diego!! :) You ROCK Kat!!

Watched LA Ink and recorded it for future viewing, my daughter the mother of 3 little ones also enjoys watching LA Ink. It is all about Kat Von D, my wife was watching it with me and commented on how attractive Kat is. My Mrs., God bless her, is very conservative and thinks tattoo’s on woman is a stretch and doesn’t do much to enhance a woman’s beauty. You have to understand, that we have been married 40 years and she is a wonderful lady. But, I have been the one that has been open minded and live one day at a time.
Kat looked absolutely gorgeous last night. She is so, so cool.
You have to watch TLC next Tuesday Kat will be there with all her awesome friends in full glory! She has 38,000 fans on MySpace alone. Blows your mind doesn’t it, LOL.

Kat, I have enjoyed watching you for sometime now. I watched you on the other show to get ideals on my own tattoos. I know have 3 tattoos, one with a rose on my cafe with each one of my kids own writing of there names, the rose has 14 petal due to I lost my daughter this feb. and now i’m getting a port. of her on my back with 3 shotting starts, (for my dad, my father-law, and my daughter) then 5 others for the other kids and my grandkids and my husband. Kat, I’ve been searching several states to find a tattoo artist who is really good at portraits. I have been unsucessful. I would like to get a tat of my best friend that died. I know it sounds strange, but it was my dog, my families dog. The story was sad, and I was literally within an hour of having found him before they put him down. It tears my heart, and to have someone comemerate his life with a tattoo on me would seal that tear. I have tried to go to your website and apply for the waiting list, but it won’t allow me too. Maybe your just that full of clients. But I will do what ever I have to to get a tat from you of him.
