Hell’s Kitchen: Girl Power!

by Lynn on June 12th, 2007

Hell’s Kitchen

As the show began we found out that Aaron, the crying Asian cowboy from last week, had not eaten all day except for an apple and was a nervous wreck. The guys tried to pull him together, but he still seemed off his game.

Gordon Ramsay

The next morning, the chefs were awakened by clanging pots and pans to find out that they had to go out in the parking lot and let people throw fish at them and they had to catch them. Now, I’ve seen this done in Pike’s Market in Seattle and it’s quite a sight, when the people know what they’re doing! However, these folks did not. It was very sad.

When they got to the kitchen, Aaron started to cry again, and Chef Ramsay told him to go take a break. Then the chefs had a challenge where they competed to see which team could properly skin and prepare the most Dover sole in the same amount of time.

The girls won the challenge and got to go fishing and eat lunch with Chef Ramsay. They guys had to stay behind and prepare all the Dover sole for that evening’s service.

When it was time for the service to begin, Chef Ramsay told Aaron to go serve tableside. Aaron was a train wreck. He started by introducing himself like a big goof to all the guests. Then, every table complained about the fish he was de-boning at the table having bones left in.

All during the service, Aaron kept threatening to quit the competition and he complained that he had cramps. He just can’t cut it.

It wasn’t much better in the kitchen either. The guys were having trouble with the risotto and the Wellington. Eventually, Chef Ramsay kicked the guys out of the kitchen.

Not only did the girls finish their entire dinner service, but then finished the service for the guys. Go girls!! :-)

And I was happy to see that Julia held her own against the other chefs. Good girl! I think she’s going to surprise a lot of people in this competition.

Chef Ramsay told Rock to pick out two team members to nominate for elimination and he chose Eddie and Josh. (What!!?? No Aaron? Is he mad? The guy is hanging on by a thread and he’s hurting the whole team…)

Eddie

Chef Ramsay eliminated Eddie. I have to say that I liked Eddie and admired his determination and positive attitude. Unfortunately, he isn’t assertive enough with the other guys and because of that, Chef Ramsay’s right, he wouldn’t be able to manage a kitchen.

I’m liking Rock more this week. I think he might win it. The guys all seem like they don’t know what they’re doing, for some reason. The girls are obviously more capable so far. It should be an interesting season, for sure.

Who do you think has the best chance of winning? Who do you think just has to go?

And do you agree with Aaron not being nominated? Do you agree that Eddie should have gone home? Leave a comment to tell us how you feel!

It hurt me so bad when Eddie and Josh were marked for elimination. I mean, Aaron and Vinnie are absolutely terrible!!!! I was horrified but I can’t wait to see what happens next week!

Aaron should have been gone without question! I mean, honestly. Aaron’s mental health is at risk. He should not be there at all. I can not beleive Edie went home before Aaron did!

    I’m late but I’m here…LOL
I agree…The cry baby should have been gone a long time ago but this is FOX people…did we expect anything less. My hubby is a chef and he brought up a good point about the show. I know and he knows that he can blow away this season’s contestants, but as we learned from AI, it is a reality show. FOX is going to pick the people that will give us the best drama. And we see that being true in this case. I am sure they were aware of Aaron’s mental condition prior to putting him on. I’m sure that he cried during auditions and probably passed out then too so we have to thank FOX for putting him on.
I agree with Lauren, I was shocked too…Didn’t he (Aaron) say during the first show that he wants to go home??? Hmmmm….I would have said hasta-la-bye-bye to him on that one….Poor guy, it’s only gonna get worse so he better suck it up or like the saying goes, If you can’t stand the heat…get out the kitchen….LOL
Tonight looks like it’s going to be a good one…but we shall see shant we ;)

You raise quite a good point, my dear! They totally are looking for someone who will daw in the ratings.
Too bad because it sorta cheapens the value of the show.

Yes Lauren it does! You are absolutely right, it does cheapen the show, and at the same time, it can kill a show. When “reality” TV first came out, it was great; but now the networks (especially FOX) are going for drama…perfect example is Jerry Springer…He had a fight break out on his show and the rating hit the roof and he totally changed what a talk show is. Same here, we already see how AI has changed. We saw how they passed on people that can really sing and chose people like Haley and dare I mention Sanjaya….
It’s a shame today but this is what it has come down too…it’s horrible if the network, or producers rather, knew that Aaron couldn’t hack it and chose to exploit him… Personally I think they picked Joanna knowing she has all that mouth and they want a fight to break out or some kind of drama…There is NO way she is a model chef and quite frankly I don’t see her being a sous chef. I work at a culinary school…and ALL the chef’s agree she won’t cut it in most kitchens. Especially what they are competing for.
One other thing…FOX knew what they were doing when they picked Chef Gordon…think about it….DRAMA!!!!! And he is so not like that in real life.

I have to agree about Chef Ramsay being different off the show. Have you watched any of his shows on BBC? He’s a pretty nice guy, overall. Yes, he does have an enormous ego, but then, how many chefs have you ever seen become successful without a healthy ego?

I’m afraid you’re both right, many of the contestants get chosen for the drama factor. :-(

But I have to say that I am waiting impatiently to see how Aaron fares this evening. I hope he doesn’t have something life-threatening happen! No TV show is worth that!

Exactly Lynn…a chef has to have some sort of ego and his Hell’s Kitchen persona has been beefed up for television. He is a rather nice guy outside of HK. I have seen him in different interviews and a co-worker actually met him in London at his restaurant and was able to get me a personalized autograph…he said that he is really nice and not like the image he portrays on HK.

I really hope Aaron gets it together b/c it is not worth it…and for the producers to convince him to stay for the rating and not care about his health is a shame…If he cries again tonight, he really needs to go.

Have you noticed that ALL the judges from the UK on ALL the Reality shows (American Idol, Hell’s Kitchen, America’s got talent, So You Think You Can Dance, and The Next Best Thing) are portrayed as mean…hmmmmm
