Hell’s Kitchen Has Its First Service Disaster of the Season
The show began with a view of Gordon Ramsay sitting in the dining room of the kitchen, calmly drinking a glass of wine. He told the camera that in the past, he’s been known to lose his temper, but that this time around, things are going to be a lot different. (LOL)
He said he won’t scream or swear, then he laughed and said, “Oh, come on. Who am I trying to kid here?”
The chefs showed up and were immediately intimidated by Chef Ramsay. They found out that the blue team would be the men and the red team would be the women.
His first assignment to them was to create their own signature dish. Then came the traditional taste testing of the dishes and his hard criticisms of each.
Before they were finished with the critiques, three of the chefs had already been crying. Including Aaron, the 48-year-old dressed in a cowboy outfit.
Then the chefs went to their dorm area and got ready for the next day’s service. The girls all agreed that girls just have a way of getting along with each other and that they shouldn’t start the backstabbing until they got rid of all of the guys. (I smell foreshadowing…)
The guys were saying that they were going to beat the girls and the girls are doomed.
The next day, they had to get up super early and create menus of 15 items for the evening using over 300 ingredients.
The girls wouldn’t talk to Julia, the short-order cook and they wouldn’t let her do anything at all.
Aaron was struggling with things in the kitchen and was upset and on the verge of tears. Joanna just took over and started to boss the other girls around. The girls didn’t like her at all. (So much for the girls working together…)
By the time the doors opened to the customers, the girls were at each others’ throats and the guys were not much better.
Chef Ramsay asked if they were all ready and Julia told him they were not communicating at all. Joanna told the camera that she agreed with Julia, but that she would never admit it.
And Aaron started to cry because the stress was too much for him.
Then the doors opened and service began.
Joanna started telling everyone they were doing everything wrong.
Tiffany had trouble cooking the quail eggs and Julia offered to help with the eggs. She works at a Waffle House, there’s no way she would have trouble cooking eggs, but when she offered, and they turned her down.
Vinnie couldn’t do the appetizers, and when Chef Ramsay started to yell at him, he started to giggle…not a good idea.
Julia kept offering to do the eggs, but they kept turning her down. The girls were so scared, they had shaking hands, and couldn’t seem to do anything right. Finally, Julia told Chef Ramsay that she was ready to help with the eggs, but that they wouldn’t let her, so he told her to do them. She did them perfectly. (Well, duh! Why wouldn’t they let her do it?)
Vinnie added water to the risotto because they were out of vegetable stock. When Vinnie had a bad attitude, Chef Ramsay told him to clean the dishes.
Aaron got so upset he left his station and was in his room crying. Chef Ramsay went to talk to him and he came back.
One thing after another went wrong and the food was not going out. Then the customers got tired of waiting for their food and started to get up and leave. Chef Ramsay shut the kitchen down.
He announced that there were no winners that night, but that the red team had lost. He chose Melissa to nominate two of her teammates for elimination.
Each of the girls went to her with their plea for her to let them stay. Tiffany told Melissa that she didn’t want to go home and Melissa told her that she was definitely not going home.
Then when it came time to nominate two girls, Melissa nominated Tiffany and Joanna. (Yeah, I see how the girls planned to get along…and lie to each other. That was a total stab in the back!)
Chef Ramsay let each of them give him their reason to stay and then he decided to let Tiffany go home.
Wooo! The season’s off to a great start!! This is the most dramatic reality show! I love it. They say we all have a guilty pleasure, I guess my love of Hell’s Kitchen must be mine. ;-)
So how did you like this season’s chefs so far? Do you think the right person went home? Who do you think should have gone home? Leave a comment to tell how you feel!

I was SOOOOOO happy when Tiffany left. I really did not like her.
How they all treated Julia was a disgrace! A short-order cook has some things on their side - speed, ability to work under stressful situation and a working knowledge of what communication needs to be like in a fast-paced kitchen. It made me really mad to see them judging her like that?!?!?!?

I agree totally about the way they treated Julia. If anyone knows how to make eggs, it’s a short-order cook! And she tried to help so much. I hope the others learned…I guess we’ll see.

Hello everyone! Hell’s Kitchen was a riot! I can not believe no one has spoken about Rock! The guy who used frozen food for his dish!!! WTH was he thinking…I was so disappointed in him and could not believe that…YIKES!!
Ok now, let’s get to Aaron. Why is he on the show?? I mean he started crying before they did anything. If he can not handle the level of pressure it takes to be on this show then he shouldn’t be there. I do believe he deserves a fair chance as Julia does since it seems they both have low level of experience/education in the culinary area. Aaron cooks in a retirement home where he can take his time and are few demands and no hustle and bustle. But this is a whole new world and he cracked before anything was done…that was funny to me.
Jen- I thought we lost her for a second there when she almost passed out when chef went to taste her food.
Vinnie- he did disrespect chef by laughing. I know to us looking in from the outside, the things chef Gordon says are funny but come on, you can’t laugh in a chef’s face…big no-no
Joanna- so far all talk no action. Her kitchen edicit is less than desireable and unless she changes her attitude she won’t last long. I think being on national TV saved her from getting slapped last night. Her “I know everything” attitude may fly over in certain places in Detroit but in many other places she will get a quick attitude adjustment.
Julia- poor girl. I felt so bad for her last night. They really treated her unfair. I liked how she turned that around and rocked those eggs…go girl! How could they NOT let a short order cook from Waffle House (or wherever) cook the eggs. Come on even I know that she could at least do that and do it well.
Tiffany-good riddance…she deserved to get cut and she deserved to get cut the way she did. She was mean and then couldn’t even hold up her end of the bargain.
I think if I had to pick a winner at this early stage of the competition I would have to root for Josh. I would go for Julia but I need to see a few more episodes to see if she is a quick lerner…that would be so interesting if she ended up winning it all.
Anyone else care to pick a winner???

I’m with you, I liked Rock. And I’m guessing that the winner WON’T be Aaron, Vinnie or Joanna, based on last night. But I think it’s a bit too early for me to pick a winner yet.
But one thing, I’d LOVE it if Julia outlasts the girls that treated her badly last night! That would be sweet!

Hey, A’kyra. Nice to see you:) Lol. Seriously, how did Aaron even get on the show??? He as got to cut the crap and pull himself together. Sheesh! As for Julia, that was horrible the way she was treated! My lord! Her job is to cook those types of foods, so why would Tiffany act like that? Honestly, it was as if she thought Julia was beneath her. When I saw Tifanny acting the way she did I was like - that girl has gots to go!!!

Hey Lauren! How are ya ;)
It was terrible how Tiffany treated that girl.
Unlike the Paris Hilton case justice was served here…LOL…bye bye Tiffany….I thought the look on her face was priceless when her name was called…she knew for sure Julia was going to be the one to go…Hahaha
