The Amazing Race: All-Stars - The Race Begins
The All-Star edition of the show has finally begun! The eleven teams that will compete this season are some of the more memorable teams so far. Check out the complete list and bios here.
After the introductions, the teams took off from Miami, Florida and headed to Ecuador. Things got a lot more competitive than other seasons right off the bat. Even David and Mary, the super nice guys from last season are wanting to be more tough this time.
Once in Ecuador, the teams had to find a certain restaurant and get signed up for one of three departure times the next morning. On the way to the first clue box, Drew fell and hurt his shoulder. Doggone it! Kevin and Drew are one of my favorites!! I hope this doesn’t make them get eliminated first!
The next morning, using a provided map, the teams had to drive cars 65 miles to Hacienda Yanahurco, an ecological reserve, where the next clue was waiting.
The clue was a Detour. The teams had to choose between two tasks from Ecuadorian history: wrangling or recovery. In Wrangling, the had to help lasso, tie down and groom a wild horse by clipping its hooves and its tail. In Recovery, they had to put on a historical uniform, then search the field for three items missing from the uniform.
Drew and Kevin were heading toward the detour when Drew said that Peru was really nice and lovely. Kevin told him that he was sure it was nice in Peru, but they were in Ecuador. Then they got a flat tire on the way to the next clue box but they drove it the rest of the way on the rim. Things just weren’t going their way at all!
Rob & Amber started with the recovery task, then switched to the wrangling task but still finished first.
After the detour, the teams had to get to the first pit stop at Mirador Cotopaxi. The teams arrived at the pit stop in this order:
- Rob & Amber arrived first and won a trip to Canada.
- Oswald & Danny
- Teri & Ian
- Eric & Danielle
- Joe & Bill (Team Guido)
- Dustin & Kandice (the Barbies)
- Uchenna & Joyce
- Charla & Mirna
- David & Mary
- Kevin & Drew
- John Vito & Jill were last to arrive and were eliminated.

Jill said that the race had rekindled their relationship. So it seems that there’s a happy ending for them after all.
But we don’t have to guess how things are for them after elimination this time. According to a press release from CBS, we’ll be able to watch the eliminated couples in sequester somewhere in the world after they are eliminated each week. Here’s what the press release had to say:
Each week, fans can log onto http://www.cbs.com/innertube/ to get a free look at what happens when Teams are eliminated from the Race and sent to a secluded sequester house where they must try to cope with the disappointment of being eliminated while living alongside their fellow eliminated All-Stars. All 13 webisodes of ELIMINATION STATION will appear on innertube in conjunction with the series’ entire run.
ELIMINATION STATION will be streamed on CBS’s innertube immediately following the West Coast broadcast of each episode of THE AMAZING RACE: ALL-STARS. The first webisode will be streamed Sunday, Feb. 18 (9:00 PM, PT) immediately following the West Coast broadcast of the premiere of THE AMAZING RACE: ALL-STARS on the CBS Television Network.
How did you like the season premiere of the All-Stars Amazing Race? Who are your favorites going into the race? Do you think things have gotten even more competitive this time around for the racers?
