Solitary Will Return for Its Second Season in August
According to the Hollywood reporter, Fox Reality has said it is in preproduction on “Solitary 2.0,” in which nine subjects will endure psychological tests that require extreme tolerance as well as tough physical treatments. When the experiment ends, the “last person standing” wins a cash prize of $50,000. Season 2 is set to debut in August.
According to an article in Reality TV World:
Like the show’s first season, Solitary 2.0’s contestants will be placed in individual “laboratory pods,” Fox Reality’s version of solitary confinement, and denied interaction with any other people. The only voice they will hear during the filming will be “Val,” an “omniscient, sarcastic taskmaster” who controls every aspect of what’s taking place in each participant’s “pod,” including sleep, sound, temperature and light. Once in their pods, the contestants — who will also be stripped of their names and only referred to by an assigned number — will begin competing for the measly $50,000 grand prize that will be awarded to the person who tolerates Val’s abuse the longest (all of the contestants are free to quit the competition at any time).
However unlike the show’s first season, Fox Reality promises “far more grueling psychological tests” and “even tougher” physical treatments for Solitary 2.0.
“Solitary entered into uncharted territory in the reality world,” said David Lyle, COO and general manager of Fox Reality. “Solitary 2.0 will push the limits of human tolerance even further and allow our viewers to go along for the ride while, luckily for them, watching comfortably from their homes.”
I can’t wait! :-)

Interesting psychological game. Can’t help but believe those by the end saw their many flaws, giving them the ability to change and must have marveled at their endurance. I truly believe a person could be in therapy for 10 yrs. and not learn as much about themselves as they did on this show… the ability to focus, push through, endure and especially mind over matter factor allowing them to go farther than they ever thought they could….and it goes for everything in life, not just this game.
Great show…could I do it?? Nope.

Great show even though I only watched most of season 2! I think they should air it more, it was hard to find it for it never seemed to had a set schedule. I think now they should make a season 3!
