Bravo Announces New Reality Competition: Shear Genius
Previously, Bravo used the working title for the new series Top Hair, but has now announced that it will officially be called Shear Genius. The host for the show will be Jaclyn Smith and it will air in Spring of 2007. I’ll update you with details as they are announced.
To win this competition, each hairstylist must prove their “Shear Genius” as they literally go head-to-head in creative challenges that require more than just talent with a comb and scissors. Whether it’s the bob, bouffant, perm, or chignon, hair becomes an art form as the contestants with a flair for hair compete in two challenges each day that could put them one step closer to being crowned a “Shear Genius.” From the guy next door to the A-list celebrity, everyone is a potential client and provides a true test of skill. The crop of budding stylists will come from all walks of life and hail from all over the nation. Some will get “cut” early and others will “blow away” the competition.
Personally, I’m really glad they chose the new name. Top Hair just sounded like beehive hairdos from the 60s. Bravo’s reality competitions have been great so far. Let’s see if this one will measure up to the previous examples.

I cant wait to watch the second season! Theres nothing greater than putting a cut on some lifeless hair. I need to be on the third season. PLEASE send me the casting call locations.THANKS!!!!
