The Amazing Race Leaves Kuwait

by Lynn on October 29th, 2006

Last week, we saw that karma is, in fact, a reality. The lying, jerky Peter got eliminated. Too bad for Sarah, since she’s a neat person, but at least she won’t have to hang out with Peter any more. :-)

Also, last week, we saw the Cho brothers sacrifice their chance at the Fast Forward to help the Kentucky team get it. Since David & Mary managed to arrive first, they didn’t get the half hour penalty and were not eliminated after all. I don’t know about you, but I’m now rooting for the Cho brothers. I love it when good people win.

The teams had to travel by air from Kuwait to Mauritius, and island off the coast of Africa. The Alabama girls and the male models got into a big argument at the ticket counter because the guys cut in line for tickets. The Cho brothers, the Kentucky girls and The Tennessee couple are now calling themselves the Six Pack. The other teams are calling them the Back Pack.

Once in Mauritius, they have to find a marina and swim out to a boat to get the next clue. They were not allowed to open it until they got back to the marina. The model guys got caught in traffic and were last to get to the marina, but made up time because they are faster swimmers than some of the other teams.

They then had to drive 49 miles to Case Noyale and find the post office to get the next clue. Rob & Kimberly had trouble with the car, then got into a big argument over it and Rob threatened to quit. The model guys took a wrong turn and had to go back to find the destination. I guess we can tell they probably weren’t Boy Scouts… The Barbie girls had a wreck by running into a bus. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Rob & Kimberly had to wait for a new car before proceeding.

Next was a Detour. The choice was between something present day and something old time that was reminiscent of priates: Salt or Sea.

In Salt, teams had to drive 2 miles to a salt mine and dig in a huge pile of salt to find a salt shaker containing the next clue.

Dustin & Kandice arrive firstIn Sea, teams walk to a boat dock, select a boat captain and gpirates quarters of a mile to an island by boat. Then, using a treasure map, they had to search on land to find the boat’s mast and sail. Once found, they had to carry them back to the boat and attach them. Then they’d get the next clue and sail back to shore. The Barbie girls were the first to complete it.

Rob & Kim, the Cho brothers, the Kentucky girls and the model guys left the salt challenge to go do the treasure map thing. That left Mary and David at the salt mines to try to find the clue. They finally gave up too after a lot of arguing and went to find the mast for the boat…in last place.

The teams had to now find their way to the place of the next pit stop, Chateau Bel Ombre, and arrived in this order:

  1. Dustin and Kandice (the Barbie girls) - each won a new motor scooter
  2. Tyler & James (the models)
  3. Rob & Kim
  4. Erwin & Godwin (the Cho brothers)
  5. Lyn & Karlyn (the Alabama girls)
  6. David & Mary (the Kentucky team, Coal miner & his wife)

David & Mary Marked for Elimination AgainLuckily for them, it was not an elimination round but they are once again marked for elimination. Who knows if they’ll squeak by another week. It can happen. BJ and Tyler were almost eliminated last season twice and ended up winning. It’s so easy for things to turn on a dime in this show. It’ll be interesting to see how things go next week.

So, who are your favorites? What do you think about the kindly Cho brothers’ giving up the Fast Forward last week? Who would you like to see eliminated next? Leave a comment, let me know!
